Nowadays smartphones can do just about anything you can imagine, that even includes weighing objects. Thanks to Simon Gladman, you can now take two objects set them on your screen, and your iPhone will be able to tell you which one of the objects is heavier. The app, which is called the Plum-O-Meter, displays the normalized force of each object on the screen as a percentage and uses a yellow highlight to indicate which object is heaviest. So it’s close to a scale, but instead of giving you weight, it compares weights between two objects.
The app works using the iPhone 6s 3D Touch feature. While you may not see the point in being able to weigh two objects against each other on your iPhone screen, this app represents much more than that. Plum-O-Meter proves that 3D Touch can be used for much more than a shortcut menu or a way to play Live Photos. At the moment the use of 3D Touch may be limited, but as time goes on creative people like Simon will make 3D Touch a must have. Check out the video below to see it in action.

Source: DigitalTrend

Tech Trends 2- Smart mirrors may be the next IoT gadget in your house

Just incase having Siri or an Amazon Echo isn’t enough. You can now build your own smart mirror. Evan Cohen, a developer based in Seattle, just released a video on Youtube updating his progress on his magic mirror. After building the prototype in just a weekend, Cohen has been working on the bugs for a little under a month. “The bugs are fairly minimal but I have a laundry list of things I want to implement,” Cohen told Digital Journal over the phone. “The actual interface now looks pretty good.”
Cohen posted the specs on Github, which shows the mirror is powered by a Raspberry Pi computer running Chromium, a USB microphone, a monitor with its bezel removed and mirror glass itself. The lights he used are Philips Hue smart bulbs. While this isn’t the first smart mirror ever created it is still impressive. See it for yourself in the video below.

Source: TechWorm

Tech Trends 3- Self-repairing screen protector can repair scratches in one second

Just as people were becoming happy with glass screen protectors, something else comes along much better. Innerexile, who also has a self repair phone case, has come out with a self-repair screen protector. This scratch proof, ultra thin screen protector means you never have to worry about scratching your screen again.
The best part? It self-repairs the scratches in just one second. Yes, one second. The protector is dotted with microcapsules that contain an adhesive-like liquid, and when damaged, the liquid will fill the void so quickly that you probably won’t even realize you’ve just scratched your case or screen protector. The screen protector can be purchased for around $25 from various retailers including their website. And now that number is about to increase. Apple Music for Android is currently in its beta stage and “in spite of a very restrictive non-disclosure agreement” a screenshot is available.
The german technology blog MobileGeeks.de is responsible for the screenshots and the review of Apple Music for Android thus far. According to MobileGeeks.de, Apple Music will have Beats 1 Radio despite rumors it wouldn’t. They also said that there are unresolved issues in the beta of the Android version of the Apple Music app, for instance, logging into an Apple account doesn’t seem to work perfectly. The good news is that if everything goes according to plan, Android users should be seeing Apple Music sometime in November.

Tech Trends-Android users should be available to download Apple Music sometime in November.

Source: DigitalTrends

Tech Trends- Oct 24-25 Self-repairing screen protectors, smart mirrors, Apple Music hits Android and more in this week’s ‘Weekend in Tech Trends’.
