Thanks to one company, we are now seeing a completely new way to take down drones, and this one looks like something out of Star Wars.
Battelle has created what they are calling the DroneDefender, and it uses radio control frequency disruption to halt and bring down drones in a way that keeps the drone intact while preventing it from setting off any kind of self-destruct sequence. This is important because it allows a better chance of identifying the source of drones that are violating airspace restrictions.
The DroneDefender is capable of five hours of continuous use, it also has a 400 meter range and jams ISM and GPS signals. While there are other drone stoppers like this available, nothing is close to being this portable. The DroneDefender is looking to be the future of defense against drones. Check it out in action in the video below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9Zvpx9fFsM
Source: Mashable

Tech Trends 2) LG is taking on mobile payments in an entirely different way than expected

LG is trying to revive something that has already failed once before. LG is building a single credit card that acts as all of your credit cards, which is very similar to that of Coin. Coin struggled greatly and never gained much traction.
LG’s “White Card” is a part of LG Pay and features a simple LCD to display which card is selected, as well as buttons to switch between the cards. The contacts on the left side of the card are used for charging the White Card, which requires a separate charger.
LG Pay is looking to the White Card to separate itself from Apple, Android, and Samsung’s mobile payment platforms, which also replace the need for carry around so many different cards. While it doesn’t seem like it makes much sense, LG has ordered 50,000 cards and will launch the service in South Korea. Check out the leaked photo of the White Card below.

Tech Trends- LG’s White Card is trying to compete with mobile payments by servicing the older “less technological” demographic.

Source: Mashable

Tech Trends 3) Google has released the amount given to purchaser of Google.com domain

Rememeber when someone was able to purchase the domain Google.com for $12 last year? Well Google has finally released what they paid him for finding a loophole in their domains.
$6,006.13 was the settlement from Google. Simply because those are the numbers that spell out Google. Better yet, when Google heard Sanmay Ved, the purchaser of the domain name, was donating the money to charity, they doubled the amount. Congrats Sanmay on the awesome find.

Tech Trends- Sanmay Ved managed to outsmart Google and buy Google.com

Source: TheVerge

Tech Trends 4) TappLock is the lock of the future

The lock of the future has arrived. TappLock has designed a lock that is opened with your fingerprint, much like your iPhone. Using it’s “cutting edge encrypted fingerprint sensor,” the TappLock is opened in just .8 seconds. Allowing you to easily access whatever you have locked.
If you’re not the only person who needs to use the lock, you can grant access up to 200 people, all via an app on your smartphone. That’s not all, the TappLock also serves as a portable charger for your electronics. Simply plug in your usb cable and you’re good to go.
The TappLock comes in two sizes, the TappLock and the TappLock Lite. The TappLock Lite is going for around $46 while the TappLock is around $65.
