For the ones who did not read our previous articles and are unaware of the pollution situation, I will give a few numbers and statistics below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over 4.8 million<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.popsci.com\/researchers-find-just-how-much-plastic-were-putting-ocean\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tons of plastic is dumped into the oceans every year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 sea mammals are killed by pollution every year<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dosomething.org\/us\/facts\/11-facts-about-pollution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Americans make up an estimated 5% of the world\u2019s population. However, the US uses 25% of the<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9142\" src=\"https:\/\/dxjl3qy52c1o9.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/24054424\/plastic-pollution-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"plastic-pollution\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" title=\"\"> world\u2019s resources &#8211; burning up nearly 25% of the coal, 26% of<br \/>\nthe oil, and 27% of the world\u2019s natural gas<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dosomething.org\/us\/facts\/11-facts-about-pollution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1.1 billion people lack access to clean water, and 2.4 billion don\u2019t have<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldwildlife.org\/threats\/pollution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> adequate sanitation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>How do you feel about all the paper and plastic coupons, membership cards, loyalty punch-cards you keep in your wallet (which often get lost or forgotten)?<\/em><br \/>\nEvery time someone accepts a paper or plastic card they are contributing to this <strong>polluting process.<\/strong> That is why everyone should have a better understanding of <a href=\"https:\/\/passkit.com\/cherrypie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mobile wallet technology<\/a>. Let me explain this with an example:<\/p>\n<h4>Let\u2019s say you are a bar owner and you have a paper membership card.<\/h4>\n<p>This is what happens when you implement your traditional loyalty program for your business. A tree will be cut down. The tree is then processed in a factory. The cards are shipped to your designer, who will eventually create them, print them off and box them up. By digitising physical materials, businesses will sensibly reduce the amount of waste, pollution and management costs.
