YouTube launches 6 second ads that you can no longer skip

YouTube has now launched a short form ad format called Bumper ads. Bumper ads run 6 seconds in length and are available through AdWords and are sold on a CPM basis. Bumper ads are meant to compliment a larger campaign and help extend its reach. These short ads will appear before videos and won’t be skippable.

Why is this important?

Alongside Bumper ads release, Google stated that “Bumper ads are ideal for driving incremental reach and frequency, especially on mobile, where “snackable videos” perform well.” These Bumper ads will allow you to easily broaden your message and reach more audiences. Check out an example below.

Periscope updates to keep up with Facebook Live

Clearly Facebook Live is having an impact over at Periscope. Periscope just released an update that allows users to draw during their live streams. The update also includes an analytics feature. Both of which are included in Facebook Live.

Why is this important?

This update shows that Facebook Live is going to make a dent in the live stream industry. Brands will need to choose wisely as to which platform that choose as their livestreaming home. If you were to make your decision based off the current state of Facebook and Twitter, you’re better off going with Facebook Live, but only time will tell.
