Google is making it possible to store digital versions of either COVID-19 test results or vaccination cards on your Android device. The company has announced a new update for the Passes API, which will allow developers at healthcare organizations and other authorized parties access to create these types of digital copies that can be saved directly onto users’ devices with Google Pay. Typically, Google Pay would store things like boarding passes, loyalty cards and gift cards – but this move by Google represents a diversion into providing something key to opening up travel! It can also help you more easily keep track of your vaccination records right from your phone.

The update will initially be available in the US before rolling out to other countries.

Once the update goes live, Android users will be able to access and store either their COVID-19 test results or vaccination card using any app that supports Google Pay. The Google Pay Passes Covid API is not yet rolled out but, as PassKit is the go-to for both Google Pay and Apple Wallet Passes, we will be one of the first to roll out this functionality. If you’re interested in implementing COVID-19 and test results or vaccination cards into Apple Wallet and Google Pay, click through to speak to one of our experts – https://calendly.com/passkit/free-consultation
