Tech Trends- Nov 7-8

3D printed cars, a music player from the future, the ultimate carry on luggage, and more in this week’s Weekend in Tech Trends.

Tech Trends 1) Local Motors 3D printed car will soon be available for pre-sales

Local Motors has announced that it will start allowing pre-sales of their 3D printed car starting in spring 2016. The main car available will be the LM3D Swim, which went from rendering to reality in just a matter of months. Which is much quicker than the typical car.
Local Motors is currently building a micro manufacturing facility in Knoxville, Tennessee where it will produce the cars. They plan to have this finished by the end of 2015 and would like to start delivering cars in early 2017. The LM3D Swim will have a sticker price of around $53,000. So I’m not sure how many they will be able to actually sell but we’ll see. Check out the video below to get a glimpse of the creation process.

Tech Trends 2) 3D tech is the driver behind the most advanced musical instrument

One company believes that they have created the future of musical creation. Titan Reality has created what they are calling “Pulse, The First Virtual Reality Music Player”. Pulse uses 3D sensors to turn your moves into music. With 4 patents pending, Titan Reality has created the most advanced 3D sensors in the world. Making the Pulse music player an extremely advanced piece of tech.
Pulse allows users to play any musical instrument or music device through one of its many apps. Each Titan Reality App is free and makes Pulse a new instrument or piece of audio gear. Simply connect your Pulse controller to a Titan Reality App or plugin, and get access to thousands of virtual musical instruments, electronic sounds, effects, virtual microphones, venue acoustics and audio gear. The Pulse is currently only available through Kickstarter and will run you a minimum of $1140 and won’t be shipped till December 2016. It’s a piece of tech that only a video can do it justice, so discover the future of music playing below. Also visit the Kickstarter here.

Tech Trends 3) Inside the eyes of Tesla’s autopilot

Not too long ago, Tesla sent out an over the air update enabling auto pilot in many of the newer model Teslas. The autopilot feature has received many amazing reviews and has already even saved a few lives. But even with the good reviews, it is still a little uneasy not knowing exactly what your Tesla is seeing out of it’s many sensors that it has scanning the road. Luckily, we now have a short video showing us exactly what the Tesla sees. Check out the video to see a look at the world through a Tesla’s eyes.

Tech Trends 4) Smart luggage for the smart traveler

Finally, the ultimate carry on made for the ultimate traveler. The G-RO is a high tech carry on capable of doing many things to make traveling easier. The G-RO comes equipped with a 23,000 mah battery that powers 2 usb ports and a universal outlet so that you’ll never run out of juice. That battery also powers a GPS system so that you can track your lost luggage through an app. Besides the tech, the carry on also features many handy pockets that make storing and accessing laptops and drinks easier than ever before.
But what about working on your laptop? Well it has that covered too. When using the power station, the carry on serves as a mini desk as well, as the power station folds into a table. Which is perfect for working during long layovers at the airport. The complete carry on will cost around $380 but that’s definitely worth it if you’re constantly sitting in airports. Check it out below.
