Understanding your bill
How is my monthly bill calculated?
Your invoice is Platform Fee + Pass Volume Fee. The platform fee scales with the number of team members who need account access. The pass volume fee depends on the number and type of passes you issue or keep.
For a quick walkthrough, watch the pricing video, try the calculator, or check the rate card.
What is the difference between a multi-use pass and a single-use pass?
Multi-use passes are long-life passes such as loyalty, membership, gift, policy, or business-card style passes that persist and can be updated over time.
Single-use passes are temporary passes such as coupons, tickets, and boarding passes that are charged based on what is issued during the billing month.
How do you count multi-use passes each month?
Multi-use passes are counted and invoiced automatically at the end of each billing month.
Your billable count is the total number of multi-use pass records created minus the records that have been deleted. See the rate card for the full billing notes.
Do deleted passes reduce my bill?
For multi-use passes, deleting a pass record reduces future billable volume according to the current counting rules.
Single-use passes are charged when they are issued, so deleting them later does not change the charge for that month.
What if I do not issue any passes in a month?
If you issue no single-use passes, you would only pay the platform fee plus any billable multi-use pass records that remain in your account.
If you also delete all multi-use pass records, your invoice would be just the platform fee.
What happens if I exceed a tier mid-month?
Usage is aggregated monthly and billed automatically at the relevant tiered rates. You do not need to pre-commit to a volume band.
Is there a discount for a large pass programme?
Yes. The tiered rate card reduces the marginal cost at higher volumes. Review the rate card or turn the tiers into a monthly estimate with the calculator.
Trial and getting started
How do I sign up?
Create a free account at app.passkit.com and start your 45-day trial with no payment method required.
When you are ready to issue commercial passes, you will need to launch a Live Project with a verified email address, a valid payment method, and an Apple signing certificate. You will not be charged during the trial.
What is included in the 45-day trial?
Your 45-day trial includes unlimited Draft Projects and unlimited test passes.
Draft Projects are for design, experimentation, and initial testing. To issue commercial passes to real end users, you must launch a Live Project and add a valid payment method. You will not be charged during the trial. See Draft Project Limitations for more detail.
Can I pay up front for a year instead of monthly?
PassKit is usage-based and billed monthly in arrears, so annual plans are not offered.
Platform fees and account access
What does the Platform Fee cover?
The platform fee covers hosting, maintenance, security, and account access for your team.
It also includes up to 250 multi-use and 250 single-use passes each month.
What counts as a team member?
A team member is a person who has access to your PassKit account, portal, or PassReader app.
The account owner counts as one team member.
Can I restrict account access by role?
Yes. Roles can limit access to Admin, Web Portal Access, PassReader App Access, Certificates Access, or Billing Access.
Portal access currently applies to all projects, not project-by-project restrictions.
What support and SLAs do you offer?
Support and SLA information for shared instances is listed at passkit.com/legal/support-services/.
A dedicated instance is available for additional fees via support@passkit.com.
Do you provide advisory or development services?
PassKit typically does not offer bespoke development services. If you need build or integration help, work with your own developer or agency and use PassKit support for product-specific technical questions.
Will I be charged for API calls?
No. PassKit does not charge per API call. Plans include unlimited API calls within reasonable usage that protects platform performance.
Pricing is based on the platform fee and pass volume. See the rate card for the current billing rules.
Payments, invoices, and account lifecycle
When am I billed each month?
Invoices are billed monthly in arrears based on usage. Your payment method is charged automatically and you receive an itemised invoice.
Which payment methods and currency do you accept? Do prices include tax?
PassKit accepts major credit and debit cards and bills in USD.
Taxes such as VAT or GST are added where required, and enterprise customers can arrange ACH or wire transfer via support@passkit.com.
Can I get invoices and receipts by email?
Yes. Invoices are available in your account and can be emailed automatically. Billing email settings can be updated in the portal.
Can I cancel, upgrade, or downgrade at any time?
There are no long-term contracts. You can add team members, issue more passes, or cancel at any time, with changes applying to the next billing cycle.
What happens if I cancel or delete my account?
If you cancel or delete your account, all pass records and associated account data are permanently and irrevocably deleted.
Do I need anything special for Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?
PassKit handles the pass platform itself, but Apple requires you to add your own Pass certificate for Apple Wallet issuance. See the certificate guide for details.
Google does not have the same certificate requirement.
